Emily is regularly instructed in all levels of Court to conduct criminal cases for the prosecution and defence, as well as to appear in criminal appeals.

Emily graduated from the Arts Faculty of the University of Hong Kong majoring in History and she was awarded with the Degree of B.A. Honours. Emily then joined the Hong Kong Police Force as an inspector. The majority of her police experiences was in the Criminal Investigation Department at regional level for investigation and detection of criminal cases. She had achieved the rank of Acting Chief Inspector when she left the Police Force.

Emily  passed the Common Professional Examinations of the Manchester Polytechnic and obtained the PCLL at the HKU in 1994.

Emily was appointed as the Deputy District Court Judge in 2019 and 2020. During her appointment, Emily had served for periods in the criminal jurisdiction of the District Court.
